A corridor film should say whether the room is free and whose meeting it is. Two-way calendar pairing, Meet now, and auto-release are product verbs. Joan ships them on licensed hardware. We do not ship a door. This page will not pretend we do.
Engineering essay. No public display SKU. No hire. No buy. No checkout. Calendar pairing is specified, not live. If you need a door panel this week, buy from a shop that lists one.
Walking pace. No unlock. Name of room. Free or in use. Until when. Optional: who booked it, if your privacy policy allows a surname in a corridor. That is the whole product for ninety percent of glances.
A tablet that shows a full week grid at 6-point type is a facilities console taped to a wall. People do not stop to pinch-zoom. They need the next hour. E-ink is good at one honest frame. It is bad at an application.
Privacy is a policy, not a pixel. Some firms hide organiser names. Some show them. The panel must have a mode for both. Inventing a default that ‘feels welcoming’ is how you leak a confidential 1:1 into a glass corridor.
Our badge face is a name at handshake distance. A door is a room at walking distance. Do not reuse the 250×122 compiler for this sentence. Different grid. Different job.
Industrial door panels subscribe to a room mailbox or a booking tool. The write happens when the calendar changes, on a poll, or on a button. Failures: expired OAuth, a renamed room, a clock that drifted, a radio that slept through the start.
Joan’s public scheduling copy describes two-way sync and buttons that change the calendar, not only a picture of it. That is the difference between a status poster and a peripheral. We will not claim two-way until firmware and a token broker exist in our stack.
Google and Outlook connectors on our badge roadmap mint visitor requests. They are not a door writer. Do not read the integrations answer as a room-display datasheet. It is labelled planned for visitors.
If you already have Joan, Crestron, or another panel on the door, keep it. Hiring our badges does not require ripping the corridor. Sequence vendors. The visitor crate and the door licence are different purchase orders.
Meet now: a person taps the door, claims the empty room, the calendar grows a hold. Useful in a hot-desk culture. Requires a live pairing, a conflict rule, and a display of the new hold. We do not have that button.
Extend: the meeting overruns, someone taps, the next booking is either free or it is not. Conflict UX is the product. A silent overwrite is a facilities incident.
Auto-release: the booking started, nobody tapped start or the occupancy sensor stayed quiet, the hold dissolves so the next person is not locked out by a ghost. Sensors, timeouts, and policy are the product. We will not print auto-release as a feature of a SKU we do not sell.
Joan 6 RE, dated 6 September 2026, is the hardware class that carries those workplace verbs on their site. €349 plus licence. Magnetic mount. Sixteen greys. If those verbs are the RFP, their URL is closer than our book page.
Ten doors in Leeds and ten in Manchester are twenty panels. The hard part is identity: which mailbox maps to which screw. Campus admin consoles are software. A crate of films is hardware. Confusing them is how an RFP asks a hire shop for Active Directory.
A large firm can run Joan on doors and hire our badges for a visitor day. That is a sequence, not a merger. Do not demand our compiler write their 1024×758 grey.
Coworking maps, desk-booking heatmaps, and parking modules are adjacent categories. They are not implied by a room-status sentence. We will not grow this essay into a workplace OS map.
When we have a SKU, this page should gain: mailbox mapping, fail states, and whether Meet now exists. Until then, the honest CTA is the badge pillar, not a quote form that implies a door lead.
Stale image: the radio slept, the meeting moved, the door still says 10:00. Occupancy truth died. Facilities will be blamed, not the pigment.
Clock skew: the panel thinks it is yesterday. Calendar writes look insane. NTP is not optional.
Ghost booking: auto-release did not run, or did not exist, and the room is empty behind a ‘busy’ film. People knock. Culture dies.
Wrong room map: Standish’s mailbox on the panel outside York. That is an admin error. Hardware cannot save you. A shop that sells panels must sell a mapping UI or a very patient email.
Auto-release that believes a PIR is a product with a false-positive culture. A still person in a 1:1 looks like an empty room. A bag on a chair looks like a meeting. Copy that promises auto-release without naming the sensor is a lyric.

A status register can still be honest without a sensor if the calendar is the only writer and humans tap start. That is a smaller product. It is still not ours today.
If your RFP requires occupancy analytics, you are in a workplace OS conversation. This essay will not grow a heatmap to look complete.
Organiser surnames on a door are a policy. Confidential 1:1s in a glazed corridor leak if the default is ‘feel welcoming’. The panel needs a hide-name mode. Inventing a friendly default is how legal gets involved.
Our badge faces show a name at handshake distance because that is the job. A door showing ‘Board — private’ is a different job. Do not reuse the visitor compiler for corridor privacy.
GDPR questionnaires that ask whether a door display is CCTV are category errors. It is a calendar peripheral if it only shows bookings. It becomes a data product if it logs who tapped Meet now. We have neither log nor tap.
Large firms already have a privacy review for room panels. Send them Joan’s public docs if they are buying Joan. Send them this essay if they asked whether we sell a door. The answer is no.
A six-month fit-out wants a panel that leaves with the contractor. Hire-a-door is a good sentence. It is not a checkout on this site. When — if — we stock mounts and a pairing story, this paragraph grows a formula.
SME boardrooms that meet twice a week do not need a campus console. They need a sentence on the door and a calendar that is true. Volume of one is still volume of one millimetre map.
Multi-location is twenty films and twenty maps, not a second operating system. Do not ask a hire shop for Active Directory because Joan’s admin console federates campuses.
Until then, the live hire is the chest. Book badges if Thursday needs names. Buy a door from a shop that lists a door if the corridor is the brief.
Ask: which mailbox, which fail state, which button, which sensor, which licence, which mount, which millimetres. If the vendor answers with a workplace lyric, score it as software. If they answer with millimetres, you are in hardware.

Joan’s room page lists Google, Outlook, and Exchange. That is their pairing. Ours would be a first-class object when a SKU exists: which calendar, which room mailbox, which fail state when the token dies. Copy will not invent an Allow button first.
Existing tablets in the building are a decline for an e-ink shop: we would sell a film, not a web app on glass you already own. Joan says the same in reverse about optional screens. Until we sell a film, the decline is academic.
Meet now in 15, 30, 45, or 60 minute holds is a button matrix. Auto-release is a timeout plus a sensor story. We have neither on a door. The visitors calendar answer is about minting names, not writing Standish until 14:00.
A large firm that needs those rails already has a facilities conversation. Sequence it. Do not use this child essay as a substitute for that RFP, and do not paste our badge hire formula onto a corridor panel.
